PHYSIOTHERAPY

Experience the benefits of personalized physiotherapy services at our patient centered physiotherapy clinic in Mississauga.

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a form of treatment that focuses on helping people recover from injury, chronic pain and other conditions through treatment of muscles and joints. Physiotherapy does include manual manipulation of muscles, joints, tendons and ligaments, but it also includes careful assessment and diagnosis, heat and cold treatments, and at-home exercises.

Physiotherapy can be an important treatment in helping patients recover from common day-to-day stress injuries, accidents, and chronic conditions. Beyond recovery, physiotherapy can also help people achieve greater flexibility and strength to prevent injuries from happening in the first place.

  • 19 years of age or younger

Wear loose comfortable clothing so you can allow the therapist to asses the area of complaint. If you have a knee or shoulder complaint, wearing a tank top and shorts would be recommended.
The number and frequency of visits will be different for each person and will also depend on a number of factors including the: nature and severity of the condition, how long the condition has been present, the overall health of the patient. Your physiotherapist will outline a treatment plan of the number and frequency of visits after completing a thorough assessment.
As our wellness clinic offers both chiropractic and physiotherapy treatments, it is important to differentiate the two treatments.

While similar, chiropractic focuses more on the manipulation of the musculoskeletal system whereas physiotherapy focuses more on mobilizing the muscles, tendons and ligaments. While both types of treatment deal with the manipulation of soft tissue, physiotherapy does not focus on “popping” or adjusting joints that people commonly associate with chiropractic treatments.

As part of a multi-discipline approach to creating customized treatment plans, INNOVA Integrated Wellness health professionals will determine the best mix of treatments to help our patients achieve their optimal level of health and wellness.
